IRON NEST: Heavy Turret Simulator has two related but different tracking systems. The mission result/newspaper can award in-game medals and grades for how an operation was performed. Steam exposes 33 platform achievements for completing operations, earning gold on all medals in selected operations, and reaching four city outcomes. A Steam unlock does not reveal every in-game criterion, and a mission medal is not automatically a separate Steam achievement.

Scope: Steam AppID 2950790, Windows public version 1.0 and the official Steam achievement service, checked 2026-08-08. Global completion percentages are volatile and are not used as difficulty ratings.

Know which system you are tracking

Use the in-game mission result when the question is “which medal did this run earn?” It can reflect accuracy, requisition use, optional objectives, collateral, assistance, time, or other operation-specific behavior. Use the Steam achievement page when the question is “which platform unlock is missing?” The official achievement description is authoritative for its broad condition, but may intentionally omit a hidden threshold.

The Steam Achievements Guide lists all 33 names and descriptions from the official page. It divides them into fourteen operation-completion unlocks, fifteen gold-on-all-medals awards, and four city outcomes. That grouping prevents the common error of calling every achievement a separate mission.

Complete the operation before optimizing it

On a first run, focus on understanding the dispatch, locating the target, selecting the required effect, and completing the state transition. At the newspaper/result screen, record every medal name, grade, summary line, and any obvious optional objective. That result is the evidence card for a later gold attempt.

Replaying immediately without recording the result wastes the clearest feedback the game provides. A gold route should answer a named deficiency: fewer requisition points, no assistance, a specific target restriction, better accuracy, faster response, preserved friendlies, or another displayed criterion. Do not optimize a criterion merely because a community checklist uses it for another mission.

Build a trustworthy gold test

Before run
During run
After run
What it proves
Record public version and mission
Track shots, assistance, requisition, collateral, and optional actions
Capture the complete result/newspaper
One reproducible run under a defined build
Choose one suspected threshold
Change only that variable
Compare medal grade with the baseline
Whether that variable affected the result
Preserve a clean save state
Finish through normal mission flow
Wait for Steam synchronization
Separates mission result from sync delay

Two matching runs are stronger than one. When a threshold remains uncertain, label it as a working community report rather than a guaranteed value. A gold table should state the mission, medal, tested variable, public version, date, result, and confidence.

Understand the official achievement groups

Completion achievements use verbs tied to operations: Just Calibrating for Calibration Fire, Honour Salute for Fire and Light, For Their Own Good for Liberation, and so on through In the Dark for Final Harvest. White Shells is represented in the gold group through Pride of Castile even though the current official list does not show a separate completion achievement for it.

Gold achievements explicitly require gold on all medals in a named operation. They include Duty Fulfilled, Marksman’s Honour, Exemplary Service, Distinguished Conduct, Crowned in Brass, Naval Commendation, Valour Under Fire, Order of Merit, Quiet Precision, Iron Discipline, Coastal Defence Medal, Unshaken, Master Gunner, Night’s Precision, and Pride of Castile. That is fifteen gold awards; with fourteen completion achievements and four outcomes, the official total is 33.

The four city outcome achievements are A City Silent, A City in Celebration, A City Subdued, and The Road Not Taken. Their descriptions are intentionally evocative. They prove multiple outcomes exist, not the action sequence that produces them.

Protect spoilers and save integrity

Ending conditions, secret actions, hospital/friendly decisions, and late-mission outcomes are spoiler-heavy. Put their direct answer behind a warning and identify the public build. A report based on one run should be labeled community reported. A confirmed route should have either multiple independent current accounts or a complete recording that shows every relevant action and final result.

Do not erase a save merely to test an ending. Use supported save slots or profile controls when available, complete normal save transitions, and make a backup only after locating the path through verified current evidence. PATCH 1.0 (1558) fixed save corruption and failure to enter missions after a crash, so update before diagnosing an old report.

Resolve an achievement that did not unlock

First confirm the in-game result actually met the official description. For Challenge scoring, the developer FAQ says a correct completion and dismissal of the newspaper are required for the score to save; a similar complete transition is a sensible first check for any mission result without claiming it is the hidden condition for every achievement.

Then verify Steam is online, the correct account owns AppID 2950790, the public branch is current, and the game was not interrupted during the result. Restart Steam after the game closes normally and check the official achievement page. Avoid third-party unlockers; they destroy the evidence needed to distinguish a game bug from a sync issue.

If a repeatable unlock failure remains, report mission, achievement, public version/date, language, result screenshot, and the exact transition where the unlock was expected.

Do not use global percentages as thresholds

Steam’s global achievement percentages change as more players start or finish the game. A low percentage can mean the game is new, the operation is late, the condition is difficult, the achievement is obscure, or synchronization is delayed. It cannot establish the medal requirement.

Use percentages only as a dated observation if needed, never as a guide fact. The stable data is the achievement name and official description.

Medals FAQ

How many Steam achievements are there?

The official page lists 33 as of 2026-08-08.

Are there more in-game medals than Steam achievements?

Official marketing describes more than 100 medals across missions, while Steam exposes 33 achievements. Treat those as different systems and verify the current in-game count before publishing a complete medal database.

What does “gold on all medals” mean?

It means every in-game medal associated with the named operation must reach gold. The Steam description does not disclose each threshold; use the mission result and repeatable public-build tests.

Are ending guides safe to read?

Only if you want spoilers. The four city achievements reveal that outcomes differ but do not provide a spoiler-free exact route.
