For a first playthrough, follow dispatches and accept the result. Avoid achievement percentages, ending videos, and “all choices” guides. Record your newspaper and city award after the final sequence, then return for route testing.
For deliberate completion, create a choice log from the first operation. A late newspaper can reflect cumulative conduct, and beginning only at the final mission may omit the actual branch.
Record choices without interpreting them
Write operation, dispatch wording, available alternatives, action taken, target/effect, protected or friendly context, result message, medals, and patch. Separate what the game showed from why you think it mattered.
Examples of player search interest include hospitals, friendly fire, side switching, and “wrong final.” Those topics indicate branch demand but do not prove any single causal rule. A choice that correlates with an outcome in one run may be irrelevant or interact with earlier actions.
Compare complete runs
To isolate a route, keep the firing mechanics and ordinary completion stable while changing one narrative decision sequence. Use a fresh or supported new campaign state. Do not edit unknown save files or rely on a copied profile; Steam Cloud can synchronize unwanted changes.
At the end, capture the newspaper, in-game records, and Steam achievement. If the outcome does not change, the tested decision may not control it, or another earlier choice may dominate. Preserve the negative result.
Understand the four official anchors
The four titles prove distinct recognized outcomes, but their wording is deliberately narrative. Do not transform “silent,” “celebration,” “subdued,” or “road not taken” into an operational condition merely from language.

Avoid result-state bugs
PATCH 1.0 (1547) corrected the wrong or duplicate newspaper and record at High Tide. PATCH 1.0 (1558) fixed save corruption and failure to enter missions after a crash. Complete route research on current public content and note any crash.
Dismiss newspapers normally and wait for transitions. If an outcome looks inconsistent, verify files and reproduce before resetting a profile. A post-crash state is not reliable evidence of intended narrative logic.
Publish an ending route responsibly
Place an explicit strong-spoiler warning before exact choices. State AppID, patch, starting state, every relevant action, final record, and number of reproduced runs. Link to a full video only when its title and content match the exact public base-game route.
Distinguish a confirmed sufficient route from a necessary condition. “This full sequence produced A City Silent twice” is valid evidence; “every listed action is required” needs additional elimination tests.
If you received the “wrong” ending
Do not assume the game ignored the final choice. Review the entire log, especially actions involving protected targets, friendlies, special ammunition, and optional responses. Confirm the Steam achievement actually belongs to the current run rather than an earlier unlock.
If the record is reproducibly inconsistent, report the complete sequence with spoilers marked. Avoid asserting a bug from a single undocumented playthrough.
Preserve first-run meaning
An ending guide should help without replacing discovery. Put achievement names and verification method before exact choices, then gate the route behind a strong-spoiler heading. Do not place the final newspaper in a page title, navigation label, or unmarked excerpt. When linking a video, check that its thumbnail/title do not reveal more than the surrounding warning.
