Fire and Light is officially anchored by Deliver Fire and Light and the all-gold award Marksman’s Honour. Its title is a warning not to collapse every objective into raw destruction: read which effect is requested, where it belongs, and in what sequence the operation recognizes it.

Read the full dispatch and identify whether “fire” and “light” refer to separate stages, target effects, or ammunition roles in the current operation. The developer FAQ names star illumination among available shell examples. Do not assume the most explosive shell satisfies an illumination request.
Write each requested effect on its own line and leave it unchecked until the game responds.
Plot once, verify each stage
Construct the target from the supplied evidence and draw the final Nest-to-target line. If a later message shifts the point or identifies a new area, preserve the first marks and create a new solution.
Support effects can alter what is visible without moving the target. Keep geometry separate from effect choice so an accurate but inappropriate shell is not “corrected” by changing bearing.
Prepare ammunition in deliberate order
Read the live shell descriptions at requisition. For every planned round, create a row with shell, charges, elevation, barrel, and intended effect. Recalculate when shell or powder changes even if target range stays the same.
Load and arm one side at a time. If using both guns for separate effects, the Dual Guns guide prevents crossed loads. Do not arm the second barrel until its card is independently verified.
Wait for confirmation between shots
After the first effect lands, return to the map and teleprinter. The operation may acknowledge it, update the target, or reveal that a different stage is active. Firing the second round immediately can apply a valid shell to stale instructions.
Classify failure: inaccurate impact, correct impact/wrong effect, correct effect/no state transition, or wrong barrel. Each has a different fix.
Recover from common Fire and Light errors
If illumination appears misplaced, recheck the target area and whether the mission wanted lighting over a point or region. If the shell lands correctly without progress, compare the exact requested effect and loaded label. If range is wrong, check actual powder against the calculator card.
Do not import Demo values or a community star-shell coordinate without matching the public mission state. Current guides about star shells can be observational leads, not universal solutions.
Approach Marksman’s Honour
Complete normally and capture every medal row. The award name suggests precision but does not disclose the internal requirement. On subsequent runs, isolate accuracy, shot count, time, requisition, and assistance instead of changing all together.
Record both in-game gold and the Steam notification. Dismiss the newspaper normally so the completion saves.
Preserve useful evidence
For a support-shell issue, report operation stage, dispatch wording, shell, target mark, charges, impact, response, patch, and whether another message was waiting. This is more useful than “light does not work.”
Next, use Liberation for its distinct dispatch-driven route or Target Matching for ammunition roles.
Document the effect sequence
Make a small timeline with dispatch, loaded shell, impact, visual effect, teleprinter response, and next active objective. This reveals whether the operation recognized the first role before the second was attempted. It also distinguishes a shell that visibly worked from one that advanced the mission.
When comparing with a community video, match the full timeline, not only the explosion. A creator may have cut out a wait, message, or requisition step. Check the upload/update date and the visible public version. If the current mission responds differently, preserve your evidence and treat the older route as historical rather than forcing the same sequence. For accessibility, lower effects or disable Motion Blur without changing the logical order; visual comfort settings should not be mistaken for ammunition behavior.
