Rock of Gibraltar is documented by Strike the Rock of Gibraltar and gold award Order of Merit. A named landmark can serve as setting, reference, protected feature, or target context. Use the operation text to decide which, and never aim at a label merely because it matches the title.

Copy the active target description and every reference. Plot the Rock and other known points as landmarks first. Then construct the objective location from observer bearings, ranges, or recon.
If a line points toward a landmark, that direction alone does not prove the whole feature is the intended impact point. Seek the intersection or named sub-target the dispatch supports.
Classify the target before requisition
Read whether the objective requires penetration, fragmentation, smoke, illumination, chemical effect, or another role. The developer names armor-piercing among ammunition examples, but the mission and live shell description determine use.
Note friendlies and protected locations. A large effect without correct classification can fail despite accurate geometry.
Transfer a precise long solution
Draw from the Nest’s firing origin, record bearing/range, and calculate for the actual shell and powder. At the gun, use coarse adjustment to approach and fine adjustment to finish. Release and reread both axes.
Long lines magnify small origin and angle errors. Preserve map marks so the impact can be compared to the intended point.
Interpret the strike result
Wait for the observer/teleprinter. If impact is directional, revisit target/origin/bearing. If short/long, inspect range, charge count, and elevation. If centered without progress, revisit target class and effect.
Do not change every variable. One controlled correction is more informative and less expensive.
Handle multi-stage objectives
A first successful strike can open a new stage. Number each dispatch and issue a new card for each target/effect. Do not fire a second prepared barrel until its card matches the current state.
If no new message appears, inspect unread paper and objective response. Avoid assuming an unverified hidden target.
Pursue Order of Merit
Capture all medals after baseline completion. The title does not expose thresholds. Isolate accuracy, resource use, time, assistance, target choice, and shot count on later runs.
Record in-game gold and Steam award separately and finish the newspaper transition. A reproducible public-1.0 result is needed before publishing exact criteria.
Report a mission discrepancy
Include landmark/reference interpretation, target mark, shell, card, actual load, impact, stage response, patch, and medal panel. Mark coordinates as spoilers.
For post-crash mission-entry problems, apply PATCH 1.0 (1558) or later public content and verify files rather than deleting progress.
Audit origin error on long shots
Before changing elevation, redraw the Nest-to-target line from the documented origin and compare it with the original. A tiny offset at either end can change both range and bearing over a long line. Record zoom level and the exact map tool used if you are testing reproducibility.
Then compare calculator inputs with actual load and reread the physical dials. Only after geometry and transfer match should an impact be used to calibrate a ballistic correction. If another player reports a different “exact” setting, check their shell, powder, public patch, and origin before concluding one guide is wrong. A good public solution explains those dependencies and reports a small observed range, rather than presenting one unqualified number for every run.
For an effect test, keep the chosen target and gun solution identical while changing only the shell that the current mission permits. Record whether the operation acknowledges impact, target damage/effect, or completion. If the first round changes the target state, the second run must begin from a clean equivalent operation; firing a comparison shell afterward cannot establish the same condition. Label any unavoidable mismatch in the result.
